4 Ways to Make 2022 Your Best Year Yet

A new year often means new goals and challenging ourselves in ways that make our lives better. From big aspirations like getting a new job, to simple goals like reading more books, each resolution we have aims to help us achieve a higher sense of happiness. Here are 4 suggestions, big and small, that will elevate your 2022.

1. Get Active

I know it sounds cliche but hear me out on this one! There is no better way to gain confidence, energy, and joy in your life than finding a way to be active regularly. This will look differently for everyone and that's the beauty of it. Maybe you're the type that thrives off competition and would dominate training for CrossFit or marathon running. Or, perhaps a walk at the end of the day is more your speed. Throw on your favorite true crime podcast & tread on (listening to spooky stories will likely increase your speed too!). If even that sounds like more than you can commit to, don't worry. There are incredibly simple options that can fit into your daily life. Try investing in a FitBit that will remind you to get some steps in throughout the day, or if you work from home, see if your work would pick up the cost of a standing desk for your home office. It's the little things in life that will make the biggest difference at the end of the day.

2. Declutter (in more ways than one)

Being a maximalist/borderline hoarder at heart, this is a tough one for me. Every few months I like to go through my clothes and clean out my closet of anything that either doesn't fit or hasn't seen the light of day since masks rarely found their way out of hospitals. When we give up items that no longer serve us, it quite literally feels like a weight is lifted off our shoulders. This year, get rid of any dead weight throughout your home, closet, and even personal life. Sometimes the things we need to rid ourselves of aren't objects at all but are relationships we've been holding onto that don't enhance our lives. This year, take some time to really evaluate the people and circumstances in your life to see that they truly give you what you deserve.

3. Change up your space by moving

It's easy to feel like the idea of moving causes more harm than good, but I encourage you to think differently about this concept. Whether your move be across town, across the state, or across the country, there are few things as exciting as starting over in a new space. Maybe your current residency is a home you shared with someone whose relationship you had to declutter from your life, or maybe you're stuck at a dead-end job, and you would have much more opportunity to further your career in a different city or state. I challenge you to push yourself this year in ways that you may not have thought of before.

Remember, there are always resources to make moving less stressful! For starters, check one major moving task off your list by hiring local movers like Texans Movers. These guys are the best in the business in the Houston, TX area, offering everything from packing services, delivery services, large item moving (like pianos and pool tables), and of course, residential moving in Houston. Texans Movers has been in business for over 10 years so you can be sure you will be in good hands throughout the moving process. Reach out to Texans Movers to customize your moving services today!

4. Romanticize the little things

We can all hope that 2022 brings us abundant travels, unique experiences, and all around great memories. But what I'm starting to realize is that I can't spend my life waiting and looking forward to the next vacation or big event because when there isn't something coming up, our lives can feel a little empty. That is why I say we should start falling in love with the simple things that happen every day. Look forward to your morning cup of coffee, or the next chapter of the novel you can't wait to read. In the same sense, start adding things to your day-to-day life that you genuinely enjoy. When we enjoy things, it's easier to see how beautiful life is. Carve out extra time for yourself wherever possible and prioritize the people, things, and tasks that make you want to get out of bed every day, no matter how simple they may be.

Whether your goals for 2022 be big or small, working towards bettering your circumstances and bringing more joy to your life is always a good idea. I hope you've found a bit of inspiration from these ideas!
