Winter Fashion

Updated: Dec 15, 2020

The lower temps have quickly settled in (even in Texas!), and that means adding some new pieces to the wardrobe. "Winter" looks just a tad different for me this year coming from Wisconsin to the South, but there's definitely still a drop in temperature that's making me want to bundle up.

I love winter fashion because there are so many cozy styles to choose from. For me, winter is a time to mix comfort and coziness with style - 3 of my favorite things! There are tons of fun options that are meant to keep you warm, and it's a great time to be adventurous with style.

Here are some of my favorite Winter Season trends this year:

Combat Boots

Need a pair of boots that will go well with jeans, leggings, joggers and keep your toes (relatively) warm? That's exactly why I've been loving my Dr. Martens combat boots this year! I love the edgy vibe they add to any outfit. These are a winter staple that can be worn for years to come (so we can justify that price tag, right?). I've been wearing my combat boots everywhere because they're also so comfortable with some long socks. One of my favorite activities to do now that I live in Texas is exploring the little towns around Austin, going to their shops, and having lunch or a drink at a local bar. These boots were perfect for walking around while still looking stylish.

(Faux) Leather Pants

If you're like me and you've been boycotting jeans since quarantine, you might be getting bored of the same old leggings & sweatpants everyday. That's why I was so excited to find a pair of faux leather joggers! The texture can easily add a more formal look to an otherwise casual outfit. I've also had my eye on some Spanx brand leather leggings too (maybe Santa will pull through). For our Christmas card this year, I found a deep green pair of leather joggers, paired them with a black turtleneck and white booties, and made a low-key festive look! These pants are PERFECT for a NYE gathering or any Christmas festivity.

Carhartt Hat

Another seasonal staple that won't be going out of style anytime soon is the Carhartt brand beanie. The hunters in your life might give you a few weird looks at first, but get past that and you'll have the perfect accessory to put an edge on any outfit. I personally think it's a fun way to change up a normal everyday style and step out of your comfort zone. It's important to me to experiment and have fun with my style, so I was excited to add this piece to my wardrobe! I love wearing it for a chill day running errands, or a night out with some friends.

Duster Cardigan

Winter means cozy, and what's more cozy than a sweater that you can literally wrap around your entire body? What's even better is that duster cardigans add so much to an outfit. I suggest you pair it with those combat boots & leather leggings! I love this cardigan I found at Abercrombie because it's cozy enough to wear while working from home, and cute enough to wear for a day in the city (love the versatility!)

Headbands

I'm so glad headbands are a thing now because they are such an easy way to style up an outfit or a hairdo. It adds a great touch to a holiday outfit! I always struggle with doing different things with my hair - I rarely stray away from curling or crimping it - but the headband look has given me another option! Style it with your favorite cozy sweater for any holiday celebration.

*BONUS*

Wardrobe Hack: Denim Hooks

Please tell me that I'm not the only one whose hips are wildly disproportionate to her waist.

For that reason, jeans rarely fit both my waist and hips perfectly, and who wants to wear a belt all of the time?! That's why I was so excited to find these Adjustable Waist Buckle Extenders that allow you to bring the waist of the pants in while they sit nicely on your hips. These are so easy to use and a life saver. How cool?!

Winter is the perfect season to get creative with fashion choices! I love mixing the classics with the new trends of the year to find my own new favorite styles.

Enjoy the cold months a bit more by looking good during them!
